The mission of the LFP Climate Hub is to collaborate, innovate, and share information and actions that reduce or mitigate the impacts of climate change with local groups. Through education, information, and innovative approaches to local citizen science, we encourage people to reduce their carbon emissions, enhance the environment, and build a resilient community.
Our skeleton crew filed 501(c)(3) nonprofit paperwork in November 2025, and our board is young and growing. In our first months we added 11 members, formed an executive committee, opened bank accounts, set up a PO box and a fundraising link, adopted by-laws, created an advisory board, and started building this website. Board meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month and are open to all.
We host quarterly Climate Conversations, run community work parties and citizen-science projects, bring climate learning into local schools, and are building a digital climate hub of local data and interactive Story Maps. We partner across the community — with Third Place Commons, LFP Rotary, the Stewardship Foundation, the Garden Club, and others — and we're proud to support our new City Climate Coordinator, Marita Davison, as Lake Forest Park works to reduce emissions and build resilience.
The Hub operates on generous donations and on grants of funding and expertise, including a King County Climate Resilience Grant and an American Geophysical Union Thriving Earth Exchange grant. We are actively applying for additional grants to expand our work. If you have grant-writing expertise or fundraising ideas, please reach out.
Community Stewardship Award, LFP Stewardship Foundation — for commitment to building community through volunteerism, stewardship, and advocacy in creating the LFP Climate Hub.
Friends of the Community Award, Third Place Commons — for creating a community resource that brings people together around information, education, and meaningful action on climate.
